The Zambezi Canoe Safari (5 Days)
Game viewing by canoe in the Lower Zambezi National Park
The
Lower Zambezi National Park is the most recent of Zambia's National
Parks and was for many years a forgotten wilderness. It lies along the
northern banks of the Zambezi River opposite Mana Pools in Zimbabwe.
The waters of the Zambezi are a focal point for the wildlife which includes
elephant, hippo, buffalo, zebra, lion, leopard, various antelope species,
baboon and vervet monkey, together with a great variety of birds.
DAY 1: LUSAKA - LOWER ZAMBEZI CAMP (ZAMBIA)
We depart Lusaka Airport at +- 14h00 for the Lower Zambezi
River Camp on the banks of the Zambezi River. The camp offers superb
views over the Zambezi and Kafue River.
DAY 2/3: LOWER ZAMBEZI CANOEING
We
board our canoes for 3 days of canoeing on the Zambezi River. Whilst
paddling down the gentle current of the river, we relax and enjoy watching
the game and wildlife at close quarters. The harmonious interaction
of species is combined with a profound sense of peace and serenity.
In the evening we enjoy the remoteness of our bush camp.
DAY 4: LOWER ZAMBEZI
We return to Lower Zambezi River Camp, either by vehicle or by boat.
The Zambezi valley has a population of buffalo, waterbuck, hippo, elephant,
lion, zebra, hyena, leopard and numerous species of birds. Lower Zambezi
River Camp offers superb views over the Zambezi and Kafue Rivers.
DAY 5: LOWER ZAMBEZI RIVER CAMP - LUSAKA
We cross the Kafue River on the pontoon and arrive at Lusaka Airport
at +-11h00.
The itinerary will depend on local conditions.
