DAY 1: JOHANNESBURG SOUTH
AFRICA
Day at leisure in Johannesburg. We are met by our guide at the
hotel reception for a briefing at +- 18h00 (Dinner own arrangements).
City Lodge Bryanston (or similar). (Accommodation on a bed &
breakfast basis).
DAY 2: SWAZILAND
We depart Johannesburg after breakfast and travel to the Kingdom
of Swaziland, a former British protectorate, which gained independence
in 1968. The smallest country in the southern hemisphere, this
monarchy, still ruled by a king, is known for its friendly
people and beautiful traditional crafts. Foresters Arms
(or similar). (Breakfast and dinner).
DAY 3: CASA LISA - MOÇAMBIQUE
We cross the border into Moçambique, where the colourful
and vibrant local markets, the social and economic hub of life
in the towns and villages, provide the visitor with an insight
into the richness of local culture. Casa Lisa (or similar). (Breakfast
and dinner).
DAY
4/5: PRAIA DE BARRA - MOÇAMBIQUE
We pass through Imhambane, one of Moçambiques oldest
and most charming towns with its picturesque dhows, before reaching
the beautiful beaches of Barra. Our accommodation next to the
azure ocean is set amid sand dunes and palm groves, and offers
many optional excursions including diving and snorkelling. Barra
Lodge (or similar). (Breakfast and dinner).
DAY 6/7: PRAIA DE LIMPOPO - MOÇAMBIQUE
We travel past numerous local fishing villages, lagoons and beautiful
scenery. Our chalets under coconut palms, are located near a wide,
deserted beach, allowing us to swim in the warm waters of the
bay. Several optional excursions such as snorkelling and diving
are available. Zongoene Lodge (or similar). (Breakfast and dinner).
DAY
8: MAPUTO - MOÇAMBIQUE
Maputo (formally Lorenço Marques) is one of Africas
most attractive capitals. Set on a small cliff overlooking Maputo
Bay, the wide avenues are lined with jacaranda and flame trees.
Holiday Inn (or similar). (Accommodation on a bed & breakfast
basis).
DAY 9/10/11: SAFARI IN KRUGER
NATIONAL PARK SOUTH AFRICA
We
travel to the famous wildlife sanctuary of the Kruger National
Park, one of the oldest game reserves in Africa, where we spend
our time exploring the park on early morning and late afternoon
game drives observing numerous species of animals and birds. We
relax in camp during the mid-day. Chalet / bungalow accommodation
within the Park (or similar). (Breakfast and dinner).
DAY 12: JOHANNESBURG
We return to the City Lodge Bryanston, Johannesburg at +- 16h00.
(Breakfast only).
The itinerary will depend on local
conditions.
Accommodation: 11 Nights in chalets,
rest camps, lodges or hotels. Please note that Moçambique
beach accommodation is rustic, with en-suite facilities.
Meals: Breakfast throughout, dinners as per itinerary. Excludes
lunches and drinks. Excludes dinners in Johannesburg and Maputo.
Group size: 6-16 Participants.
Transfers : Transfers in Johannesburg (+-€45 p/p) may be
pre-booked.
