Day 1 : Depart Maun for 2 nights water camp (Camp Okavango,
Nxabega Safari Lodge or Eagle Island Lodge), Okavango Delta
On arrival in Maun, you are met and transferred by light aircraft to an
Okavango 'water' camp for 2 nights. The Okavango Delta is Africa's largest
and most beautiful oasis - an isolated, lush green paradise with some
of the richest wildlife in the world. The maze of waterways, lagoons,
vast grassy plains and palm-fringed and wooded islands is home to crocodile,
hippo, elephant, lion, leopard, hyena, giraffe, wild dog, rare antelope
and around 400 bird species. At your permanent water camp, game viewing
is predominantly by motorboat, as well as game walks with an experienced
and armed guide on the delta's islands. The evocative mokoro trips are
in shallower waters, water levels permitting.
Day 3 : 2 nights, 'Moremi' camp (Camp Moremi, Khwai
River Lodge or Sandibe Safari Camp), Okavango Delta
Today you are transferred by air to a 'Moremi' camp. The Moremi Wildlife
Reserve is protected tribal land, which forms the eastern boundary of
the Okavango Delta. The largest island in the delta, Chief's Island, is
located within the Moremi and is a wildlife haven. The Moremi is known
for its predators, both of the mammal and feathered variety. Night drives
and armed game walks are not permitted here but the quality of the game-viewing
more than makes up for this. Some of the lodges are in the semi-permanent
waters and can offer somewater-based activities from June to October (exactly
when varies by season).
Day 5 : Return to Maun
After a final safari activity, followed by brunch, you fly by light aircraft
back to Maun. Your safari can start or end in Kasane or Victoria Falls
for an additional cost.
2006 Price per person sharing: April 1-June 30,
2005 = $1848. July 1-Oct. 31 = $2376
