Day 3 - A day of leisure to explore the fascinating city of Cape
Town.
Cape Town is a city with a diverse range
of attractions, sights and activities to offer and it has something
for everyone. From the landmark beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay to
the vibrant V&A Waterfront and Cape Town city centre, the award-winning
wine farms of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek - time spent in Cape Town
will not be forgotten. Cape Town is a sophisticated city at the gateway
to a majestic continent. The Mother City is a place where old and new
harmoniously converge in history, architecture, cultural pursuits
and the essence of its people. The city is dominated by a towering,
table-shaped mountain, set on a peninsula of soaring, rocky heights
and lush valleys, where two oceans converge- Indian and Atlantic. Natural
beauty and the fast pace and bright lights of a great urban centre meld
effortlessly here. Firmly positioned on the international map, Cape
Town offers a myriad things to do and places to see, whatever your tastes,
inclinations or budget.
Accommodation: Protea Hotel Victoria Junction (B)
Day 4 - Today you will be taken on a scheduled seat-in-coach
half day Winelands tour. While South Africa's
fertile valleys are world famous for their crisp white and classic French-style
red wines, the Winelands area is also a treasury of rustic beauty and
sprawling estates shaded by giant oak trees. The backdrop of the Hottentots
Holland Mountains, the white gabled Cape Dutch homesteads and the oak-lined
streets and lanes all blend in to give this place a charm that will
not be quickly forgotten. See some of the wine estates that were developed
by early settlers who produced the wines sought after by Napoleon, Bismarck
and royalty such as Edward VII. Stop for a wine-tasting on an estate,
where you will have the opportunity to purchase some of the wines. Accommodation:
Protea Hotel Victoria Junction (B)
Day 5 - Spend your last day in Cape Town perhaps doing some last
minute shopping or visiting one of the many places of interest.
Cape Town is a fabulously diverse and vibrant
city; from its beautiful natural attributes to its colorful culture,
stunning wine farms and captivating history - it's a tourist heaven.
Cape Town offers historic and cultural sites, world-class museums and
bustling markets, inviting beaches and lush gardens, as well as great
restaurants and wonderful shopping. While South Africa is perhaps best
known for its game parks and natural splendors, it is also a land whose
cities exude urban sophistication, rich in history, the arts, entertainment
and other cosmopolitan delights. Accommodation: Protea Hotel Victoria
Junction (B)
Day 6 - Today you will be transferred from your hotel to Cape
Town Airport in time for your flight to Johannesburg. On
arrival at Johannesburg Airports Central Terminal Building/Terminal
B you will be met and transferred to Lanseria Airport for your light
aircraft transfer to Pafuri Camp where you will spend 3-nights including
all meals and twice daily game viewing activities.
Pafuri Camp is a Kruger Park private safari
lodge situated in the extreme northern sector of Kruger National Park.
The camp offers lodging in 17 meru style tents, each with a fan, en-suite
bathroom and raised a metre off the ground on a wooden platform. The
tented rooms all look out over the Luvuvhu River. The dining and bar
area are under a canopy of majestic Ebony trees. There is a large swimming
pool for guests to relax after foot safaris or mountain biking. Dinners
are served in a traditional style boma under the stars, on wooden decks
overlooking the river or indoors under thatch. Pafuri Camp has a fully
stocked bar with a good selection of South African wines.
Accommodation: Pafuri Camp (B, L, D)
Day 7 - Enjoy early morning and late afternoon open vehicle game
drives in one of the few true wilderness areas left in South Africa.
Pafuri Camp is a Kruger Park private safari
lodge situated between Limpopo and the Luvuvhu Rivers in a 60 acre area
called the Pafuri or the Makuleke. The Makuleke "Concession"
is also know as the "Pafuri Region". To the north and east
lies Mozambique and Zimbabwe. This area is destined to become the core
of the new Transfrontier of 'Peace' Park that will straddle South Africa,
Mozambique and Zimbabwe. Accommodation: Pafuri
Camp (B, L, D)
Day 8 - Large herds of Elephant and Buffalo are resident most
of the year round. There are resident prides of Lion and the Luvuvhu
Riparian System supports a healthy population of Leopard. Wild Dog and
Cheetah have been sighted hunting the strong population of Nyala and
Impala that live alongside the Luvuvhu system on the southern boundary.
The Luvuvhu also supports a large population of Hippo and Crocodile.
The Makuleke Concession is probably one of the few places in Kruger
National Park where you have a good chance of spotting Eland and Sharpe's
Grysbok, and is regarded as probably the birding hotspot of South Africa.
One of the most important options available
to guests at Pafuri is the paleo-anthropological activities and lectures.
This area could become one of the most important areas in all of Africa
for paleo work. There is plenty of evidence of early man stretching
back some 2 million years ago right up to about 400 years ago when the
Tulamela dynasty ruled in this area. Accommodation: Pafuri Camp (B,
L, D)
Day 9 - After an early morning game drive to track the animals that
may have eluded you so far, followed by breakfast, you will take a light
aircraft transfer from Pafuri Camp back to Johannesburgs Lanseria
Airport. (B) On arrival at Lanseria Airport you
will be met and transferred to Johannesburgs Oliver Tambo International
Airports Central Terminal Building/Terminal B. Connect with your
scheduled international South African Airways flight back to the USA.
