Cape Hiking
This tour combines some of the best walking in the Western
Cape with a visit to three very different walking areas, the Table Mountain
range which cradles Cape Town, the Cedarberg Wilderness area with its
wild and dramatically coloured and weathered rocks, and the verdant Cape
Winelands area with its beautiful Cape Dutch homesteads surrounded by
vineyards. This tour uses excellent guesthouse and mountain lodge accommodation.

delight. You travel along the spectacular coastal road to the Cape of
Good Hope National Park. Here you walk to Cape Point. From the high vantage
point at the Cape Point Lighthouse it is possible to see where the warm
Mozambique and the cold Benguela Currents converge. From Cape Point you
continue to naval town of Simonstown. Time permitting you visit the penguins
at Boulders Beach. In the evening you join your guide for dinner. 2 nights
Leeuwenvoet House. Full Board.
Day 2 : Table Mountain Traverse
Depending on the fitness of the group, we will either traverse Table Mountain
from Constantia Nek via Maclear's Beacon to the top of Table Mountain
OR take the cable car and enjoy a walk on the top of Table Mountain. This
evening is at leisure for you to enjoy some of the wonderful Cape Town
restaurants. Breakfast and Picnic Lunch.
Day 3 : Travel to the Cedarberg
Depart for the Cedarberg. Travel through the wheat fields of the Swartland
and climb up into the Cedarberg mountains to Algeria Forest Station. Here
you enjoy quite a steep hike up to a waterfall for a magnificent view
down the valley over lunch. Return to Algeria Forest Station to relax
and swim in the rock pools before continuing to Mount Ceder Lodge for
3 nights.
Day 4 : Maltese Cross
Take the enjoyable walk to the imposing monolith of Maltese Cross in the
morning where you enjoy a magnificent view of the Cedarberg range. In
the afternoon enjoy some wine tasting at the Cedarberg Wine Estate nearby
and a visit to the Stadsaal caves and Bushmen rock art paintings.
Day 5 : Wolfberg Cracks and Arch
Today an early start for the steep, but rewarding, climb up to dramatic
Wolfberg Cracks. From here you traverse along the top through a moonscape
of weird rock formations to the imposing Wolfberg Arch, and descend via
Gabriels Pass.
Day 6 : Morning Walk and Tulbagh
This morning you enjoy a delightful hike to some undisturbed rock paintings
before travelling south to Ceres. From Ceres you visit the charming 18th
century village of Tulbagh with its white-washed Cape Dutch houses, before
driving to Stellenbosch in the late afternoon. Overnight at River Manor
or Eendracht Guest Lodge.
Day 7 : Vineyard Walk
After breakfast you enjoy a vineyard walk ending at a wine cellar where
over lunch, you have the opportunity to sample the excellent wines of
the estate. In the afternoon you explore the town of Stellenbosch before
transferring either to Cape Town airport or Cape Town in the late afternoon.
