Botswana Trilogy

As conducted from Maun Airport to Kasane

Day 01 & 02: Upon arrival at Maun Airport you are met by a representative and assisted onto your light aircraft transfer to Jack's Camp. Spend two nights at Jack's Camp in a twin bedded East Africa style safari tent. Your stay is on a full board basis including park fees and scheduled activities. Depending on the season, and weather permitting, activities include game drives to experience the annual wildebeest and zebra migration and bird walks to observe migratory waterfowl breeding/feeding sites. An expedition onto the Salt Pans on 4WD quad bikes will give you the opportunity to experience the vast emptiness of this incredible, mysterious area. Other activities include night drives to view the unique desert wildlife as well as game walks with a San (Bushman) trackers. A visit to the historical Baobabs and remote area dwellings allows guests to gain an insight into local tribal tradition and culture.

Ten roomy and stylish canvas tents, with ensuite bathrooms and indoor and outdoor showers (for those who want to feel the Kalahari breeze on their skin), have been fashioned in classical style and are set into a palm grove, creating an oasis of civilization in what can be the harshest of environments. Guests can enjoy spectacular vistas from the privacy of their own verandas. During the wet season the landscape transforms. Clouds of flamingo and other migratory birds descend from the skies to decorate the watery grasslands. Herds of zebra and wildebeest materialise, drawn by the lush grass, and for several months, the desert is teeming with game and predators. The guides at Jack's Camp are an erudite breed. Often graduate students, who combine research with guiding. They team up with a small group of San Bushmen to guide guests on morning walks and game drives. Guests can also enjoy a relic of one of the world’s largest super-lakes, the Makgadikgadi. This beautiful feature dried up thousands of years ago as a result of the continued shifting of the earth’s crust. Venturing far into the centre of the Makgadikgadi, on quad bikes, guests are able to explore remote archaeological sites, periodically discovering never before documented fossil beds of extinct giant zebra and hippo. A safari to Jack's Camp is also a complete desert experience focusing on species unique to the area such as aardvark, gemsbok and springbok. It is the only place where guests are virtually guaranteed to see the rare and elusive brown hyena and be able to walk through the Kalahari with a gang of habituated, but wild, meerkats!
